Salmon Fishing the Strait of Juan de Fuca with Friends!

A plan to go clamming shifted into a day of salmon fishing on the Strait of Juan de Fuca when coastal conditions turned unsafe. When Dave Croonquist mentioned he was heading out, I asked to join — and was invited along with his wife for a day on the water.

Armed with a lunch, a cooler, and a willingness to learn, I came away with hands-on exposure to salmon fishing, a growing interest in learning the full process from catch to fillet, and several salmon fillets for future meals.

It was a reminder that curiosity, good company, and time on the water make for a powerful combination.
