My neighbors and friends, Nik and Kirsten, invited me along for a fall day trip to Port Townsend: mead tasting, pumpkin picking, and a little aimless wandering. Naturally, I said yes. Mead is a rare treat, and Port Townsend is one of those places I never get tired of visiting.

We kicked things off at Wilderbee Farm with a mead flight and snacks, then headed to the pumpkin patch to find a few candidates for our Halloween porches. Before heading home, we stopped at Chimacum Corner Farmstand — a place I love for its friendly staff, excellent products, and sandwiches that absolutely live up to the hype (homemade focaccia included).

By the end of the afternoon, we were full, happy, and well-equipped for some jack-o’-lantern carving. A solid A+ for shopping local, good company, and fall done right.
