Forest bathing is gaining traction as a form of self-care, with a growing body of research pointing to real health benefits. Despite the name, it doesn’t involve getting naked in the woods (that’s a different practice, with different outcomes).
Forest bathing is about slowing down with intention and immersing yourself in nature through guided awareness and reflection. A trained facilitator can be especially helpful early on, offering gentle prompts and meditation to deepen the experience.
I joined my friend Bonnie McCloskey and her book club for a recent forest bathing walk along the Dungeness River in Sequim, Washington.
