When visitors from Texas come to see me, passports in hand, there's only one thing to do — catch the Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria! In fair weather, you can sit out on deck and watch for whales. In rainy weather — like the day we traveled — you can post up inside, people-watch, play cards, and work through snacks from the café during the 90-minute crossing. And then the city's waiting for you. It's a walkable city, and a delightful one — flowers, parks, floatplanes overhead, boats in the harbor, museums, great food. We came home after a long day of walking, exhilarated by the sights and sounds of our neighboring city across the Strait.
